When it comes to making money on the Internet, Do you know where to start, what to do, How to get your web site noticed by Google? There is a lot you may or may not know. I have been writing blogs and press releases for a few months now and I had no idea how to do those things when I first started. I thought once you wrote them and hit the published button, it just happened. But I was wrong.


There are times when I have done so many articles and press releases, solo ads and classifieds that I got writers block and couldn't think of anything new to write about. So I go back through the step-by-step guide and get new ideas because there is so much information there that I may have missed something or I have already read it but when I read it again my brain starts clicking and I think something new or a new way to phrase what I have already written.

One of the ways you can start earning the money you need to start a home based business is by joining affiliate web sites. Take a look at Google affiliates and you can also check out  the 5 Pillar affiliate program, I do both and have had good success with both.

So I strongly suggest that if you want to make money on the internet and work from home that you give affiliate programs a try!

People Looking For A Home Based Business

I believe the reasons people look for a home based business today is because they,

1. need an income and can't find work
2. tired of making money for someone else.
3. tired working 8 to 16 hours a day.
4. and tired of putting up with crap (for lack of a better word) all day long.

And home based businesses are giving them the opportunity to be their own boss, make their own money, and to stay home with their families!

Some people are a little leery about Multi Leveling Markets (MLM's) or home based businesses because they think they don't really work and I can tell you that some don't, but I can also tell you that most of the time it isn't the home based business that doesn't work, it was the person that didn't work the home based business. Makes sense? And then again
sometimes it isn't their fault, they just didn't have anyone to show or teach them the ropes of the Multi Leveling Market.

There are programs out there that teach and mentor people that have never worked for themselves and they are willing to at least give it a try and that is great. Research the home based business that you want to work with, ask a lot of questions. Find out if they have training and if your up line is willing to teach you everything they know. If not than walk away and find another home based business or if you like that home based business find another person in your up line that is willing to help you.

I have been in many MLM's and I failed in most of them because I didn't "get it". I didn't understand about advertising and showing the plan but the home based business I am in now is good for me, my up line and sponsor are training me and mentoring me on what they know and I can tell you that "yes" Home Based Businesses do work!

And like I have said before,when you start a home based business, it does take some investing, just be careful, Some charge you more than it's worth and they make it sound like it is not a problem because you will start making thousands before the month is over.... Please Don't fall for that!! It takes time to really start making big money, I can tell you that in the home based business I am in, we teach you how you can start making money fast but you won't get rich and it is more likely that you will spend more money than making it the first few months. But if you stick with it and don't give up and you do everything that we teach you, within 6 months you will start seeing a profit, sometimes a very NICE profit! But you have to patient and you have to be consistent.

One other thing, pretty much all home based businesses have products to sell and the company really does expect you to use your products. Just like any company, lets say you have a job at Johnson and Johnson, If by chance your boss and the regional boss came to your home and you have products there from Proctor and Gamble and nothing from Johnson and Johnson, You might lose your job or they might tell you that you need to start using Johnson and Johnson products and to leave the other product alone. You need to use your products so that you can give testimony about how good your products work and if you really like your products you won't have a problem being proud to represent them. It is called being loyal to yourself and your company.

What Does It Take To Start A Home Based Business?

When you find a home based business that you like and are excited about, understand the first thing you will need to get started is money, that is why you will hear "Don't quit your job, just yet" I can tell you, if you do you will be sorry. Because I have done that a couple of times, thinking that because I was so excited I knew in my heart that everyone I talked to about my new home business would be as excited as I was and they would join me and I would start making money right away. Well unfortunately it just does not work that way.
When you start a home based business, you need to get your mind set in the right direction, This isn't a time to relax, it is a time to place yourself in a CEO's shoes and get busy! Even though you are still working (hopefully) start carrying yourself like a CEO of your own company because you are. Part time anyway, for now.

Now you need to start advertising. Some adverting cost money, some don't, so don't go over board, unless you are busting at the seams with money already, you can start with a free classified ad or if you want, place an ad in your local newspaper. Why advertise? You want people to know that you have a business, If you don't advertise you won't get any business.

Like in another blog of mine that reads,

"What Are All The Ads For?"

It talks about advertising on the Internet and other ways to make money and to get leads.
"Your business will not grow if you do not have leads, You always have to have people to talk too and people going to you web site, If you don't have leads, you don't have a business!"


In a home based business there are always ups and downs, but that is in every business, Just talk with any network marketer or any business owner and they will tell you that sometimes business is very good and other times it can be slow but it is those good times when you have to stay very busy generating new leads for when the slow time happens.

So when you start a home based business and nothing happens for a while, Don't get discouraged, Go and do some research on what other network markets are doing to generate leads, call your sponsor and talk over with them what else you can do. I know a lot of the really good network marketers use what is call funded proposals, along with other ways of advertising and their business is booming!

Working from home may or may not be for you, But if you never try it you'll never know for sure, will you? Just remember that when you sign up with a home based business, You really need to do research on the business. Get as much information as you can. What Is Your "Why" For Starting a Home Based Business

When I started looking for a home based business, I knew that I wanted to stay home, that part was easy. I knew that I was tired of being treated like a child when I called in to let me boss know that I would not be there that day.
What wasn't so easy was looking at all the home based businesses online and trying to decide which one I wanted to start with.
So when I was ready to look for a home based business, I got a pen and paper and started writing down all the reasons "why" I didn't want to go to work. Then on another piece of paper, I wrote all the reasons "why" I wanted to work from home.
Then I also wrote down what I was looking for in a home based business, I had to ask myself if I could work from home, Was I ready? Can I do it? Financially? Mentally?
What did I have to do in the company that looked like the one I wanted to try? recruit? sell products? Surf?

There is a lot to consider when looking for a home based business. So I picked 2 home based businesses to start and did some research. Some of the things I looked for was :

1. Was the company legit?
2. How long had the company been in business?
3. Was there any complaints about the business or the products they had? and last but not least..
4. Was there any investments and how much and could I afford it? Was there any hidden cost?

OK, so number 4 had a bit more research to do. But they are important questions and I have been burnt enough times to know that I had to really do some research before I got burnt again.

I will let you know that if a company says it has "NO START UP FEE" there is a hidden cost once you sign up. They may want you to have an inventory or they will say you don't HAVE to HAVE one but you will find out that if you don't, it will take you close to if not more than 2 years to start making any kind of profit. Any and all the money make should go right back into your business.

If there is a web site, go through it completely, read everything there is to read, if they have any videos to watch, watch them, then look for a phone number to call, if the web site looks interesting and you have checked out the company with the BBB, Call the number and ask your questions. If you feel the person is not being honest with you, say thank you and hang up!

There are a lot of people out there that will scam you and tell you the things that you want to hear. But if you do your homework and check them out, you should be fine. You know of some companies that have been around for a long time, I don't have to tell you who they are, but there are also some home based businesses that have been around for a long time and you have not heard of them but they are good legit companies.

Why Don't Home Based Businesses Work, Or Do They?

I was watching the news one night and they had a segment about a woman that tried her hand at a home based business. She complained that all home based businesses were a scams and they don't work.
Well I guess she didn't know that when you have a home based business that you still have to work! It makes me laugh when I hear people complain about, they tried to work from home and the business just didn't do anything, Are they nuts ? THE BUSINESS DIDN'T DO ANYTHING??

Come on, it isn't the business that didn't work, it was the person that didn't work the business!! A home based business is just that , IT IS A BUSINESS! and you have to treat it and work it as such. The business is not a person, it does not have legs or ears or a mouth. You do. If you have a home based business or a MLM, YOU have to work it, advertise it, get up and get out! Meet people. Call people.

I placed an ad in my local newspaper about a year ago, I got a lot of call backs. and I heard 1 main question. Is this a multi-level company (a MLM), a pyramid? OK, first lets talk about the MLM's. Most if not all home based businesses are MLM's, they are multi-leveling, people sign up and they are placed under the person who sponsored them. That's how they grow, that is how people make money. Multi-leveling is NOT a bad thing, people, It's how a lot of really big companies today started out. What is bad about mlm's are that there are a few people in them that are over ambitious, they push to hard and they make you feel like your being hammered into joining with them. I walk away from people like that, I don't need nor want to be hammered by anyone. But just so you understand, if someone talks to you about a company and you think it just might be a good thing but you aren't so sure about that person telling you about it, do some research. Check the company out, it could be a very good company with great products, and if you think you would like to give it a try call the company and talk with them, let them know how you feel about being hammered, they will find a sponsor for you that you can work with.

Multi-leveling companies are not pyramids, they are a whole different animal. First, pyramids don't have products, YOU are their product. You pay the person you got under and the money goes up and if you get someone to join, they pay you and the money goes up. The money goes to the top, Once their are so many people in, it stops and the people at the top make all the money the last rows, make nothing! So they are out, they made no money. That is why pyramids are illegal, They are scams. And they are still people out there are are still doing them, so be careful!

Companies like MaryKay, Avon, Tupperware, Shaklee, Amway and a few others that I don't know their names, are good companies. They are real companies that offer people the opportunity to have their own home based business, they have been around for a very long time and are well established, they have good products to sell. But they need people to join so that their business will grow. They are Home Based Businesses. Yes, you join the company under a sponsor, but when you join and you pay your investment, The money goes to the company and the person whom you joined under will get a commission for you joining. But it is the products that really makes the difference. If all you want to do is sell the products, that's great and you will make some money doing that, but if your dream is much bigger and you want your business to grow, you are going to have to find people to sign on under you and teach you them to do what you do, so that they can make their money too.

Home based businesses are fun to do, but they are a business and must be treated as such. You can do them part time when you first start, in fact that's is what is recommended. Because you are starting in at the bottom and you have to work your way up. But once you get to that one place where you are making money and all of the sudden you have noticed that you are making as much or more that your day job! It' is very exciting to know that you don't have to wait till your 65 to retire, you can quit your day job when you still have 20 or 30 more years before your reach retirement, Stay home with your family, get up in the morning dress for the office and walk from your bedroom across the hall to your office! WOW! What a great feeling, no stress!

I hope I have helped you understand that a home based business won't work if you don't work, But if you have a dream and you are willing to do the work, Your home based business will take you to easy street. And real home based businesses are not "GET RICH QUICK!" That is just to easy, You can make a good living fast if you a real go-getter, you can get your business going good within 2 to 3 months and I do know some people that really have done that but they are not rich by any means but they might be within the next 1 to 2 yrs if they keep up what they are doing now.

Read this last paragraph again and again until you get it.

Advertising Makes You Curious

Advertising makes you just curious enough that you want to check it out, plain and simple. If you want everyone to know that you either have something to sell or that your having a party, you have to advertise, rather it be by word of mouth or banners, commercials, billboards, what ever means you have to get the word out that you want people to know.

Do you think that if Google didn't advertise when they first started, that they would be as big as they are now? They had a good product, they knew it so they advertised it. This is how we make money at one time or another. Everyone that has an online business needs to advertise to let buyers and seekers know that your there to either sell them something or that you have a service that can help them, they will be very glad that you knew to advertise.
Business people must advertise to keep their business thriving.

I have an online business that can help your business to grow, It's for any Internet marketer. It's what you want to grow you business.

But if I didn't advertise what I have, you would never know. I try to find ways to help you find my services, I like solo ads, they are good but you have to be careful, If you can try to target only the people you want, not every smo-joe that are job seekers.

Write your ad that will make the target people curious to see what you have that will help them.
We know as network marketers that we provide customer service, that's all.

Then you have newspaper ads which are also a great way to advertise but are also expensive, so you have to do your home work and try to find the least expensive, some newspapers run a free once a week paper that is nothing but ads, from people selling thing to employment.

All my blogs have my own adverting and google has placed their ads on them as well, which is a very good thing, it helps my blogs get out there in cyberspace so that they are seen and maybe someone will click on one of my ads and I will get paid for that, I won't become a millionaire over night like that but I can make a little extra income to help me, if nothing else to buy more ads.
